Hand-painted-portrait-from-photo

I create hand painted portraits from photos working in a variety of media. Watercolour is my favourite medium to work in for portraits. The transparency of the paint allows me to build up beautiful subtle skin tones as well as adding fine details.

Prices start at £120 for a small single portrait.

Ordering

Most portraits are painted in a traditional head and shoulders pose. However, you may wish to have a zoomed in, cropped portrait of the face which will look more dramatic and contemporary.

If you are unsure of what style you prefer or need to get some ideas, browse through the gallery to see what you like best. I can offer advice on which would be most suitable for you when I see the photograph you wish me to work from.

When you decide to commission a portrait I ask for a £100 deposit. Hand painted portraits can take up to 6-8 weeks to complete due to the time consuming nature of painting so please bear this in mind if you are wanting one in time for a particular date or event. I will email you a proof of the finished portrait and only when you are completely happy with it will the balance be due.

Before placing an order please email me to discuss your ideas using the contact form.

Testimonials

WOW, the painting is simply stunning. Thank you so much. And thank you also for getting it done so quickly. Rohan’s shirt looks just incredible, I love the way you’ve captured the colour and natural drape of the material. You’ve really captured the absolute likeness of Niki and Rohan, and also their closeness and happiness from the original photo, which is what I wanted.

I asked Rachel to draw a portrait of my son, Harry. I sent her a few photos and she then spent so much time talking through how I wanted the portrait to look. She discussed in detail the materials she was thinking of using and emailing examples of her past work. She suggested using black biro to draw Harry and the result was absolutely amazing. The detail of his face and especially his curly hair was so life like.

I can highly recommend Rachel, you won't be disappointed. Harry has been framed and hanging in my front room. I love it and have so many comments. Thank you so much.
